Retired Hanover Fire Department firefighter Wayne Bollinger is the museum curator, serving in this capacity pretty much his entire career. Wayne is an expert historian of the Hanover Fire Department, as well as the fire service in general.
Wayne was appointed motor pump operator in July, 1976, serving the Hanover Fire Department for the next 35 years until his retirement in July, 2011.
Wayne was one of many persons very instrumental in establishing and maintaining the fire museum when it was housed in the Wirt Park fire station on North Franklin Street. In 2014, the museum moved out of the fire station to its current location, right next door in the old Hanover Shoe Building. Mr. Bollinger spends uncountable hours sifting through, recording and documenting not only the Hanover Fire Department but the Penn Township and Pleasant Hill Fire Department history as well, which are all represented in the museum.
